    Category: GeneralKnit Knockers

The need for knitted or crocheted knockers remains strong. We urge all of you to try your hand at knockers. It is a wonderful feeling to know you have provided something good for another woman. The first and third Tuesday afternoons are always good times to find other knocker knitters sitting around our big table. If you need help getting started on your first pair, just let us know. The methods of choice are DPNs, magic loop, or crochet. This is not for the beginner knitter, but an experienced knitter will have no problem learning the techniques. Size 4 or 5 knitting needles are used, or size F or G crochet hook. You pay $10 for the yarn to make your first 3 or 4 knockers, and after that the yarn is provided for you thanks to a grant received from Baptist Hospital. 3 to 5 pm.

    Category: GeneralMagic Number

Hand dyed yarns are either dyed across the hank or dyed around the hank, Either way, you can make the most of the design if you know the "Magic Number" of stitches that it takes to consume one entire revolution of the hank. Once you know this, you can control the color pooling, to stack the colors, spiral the colors, or create an argyle pattern! It takes some swatching to create the magic, but the special effects are worth it! Join Joan on Thursday, August 16th or 23rd from 2:00 - 4:00 to decipher the magic number and start a great cowl or scarf. The class is free with purchase of Plymouth Special Reserve Worsted or Fingering yarn.
